Waterfront Homes recently won the 2009 HIA Building Commission South East Regional Award for Best Custom Home under $350,000. The split level home in Safety Beach was commended by the judges for light, airy and stylish design that fits in perfectly with the seaside environment. With carefully appointed windows and doors, the house was designed to take advantage of the cool beach breeze to naturally heat and cool the house whilst also displaying the stunning bay views.

This is the second major HIA award for Waterfront Homes and represents the pinnacle of achievement in the building industry; last year they won the award for Best Display Home in Victoria Under $150,000. The staff at Waterfront Homes are extremely proud of their achievements as they acknowledge the hard work of the small family run company that has been building in South East Victoria for over 20 years.

The sister duo, Camilla d’Antoine and Olivia Tipler have created a brand that is renowned for its original and whimsical designs. Their products are a favourite here in Australia, but the girls have enjoyed great success in both the UK and the USA distributing their range in high-end retailers.

The new MOZI store will showcase their entire range – a gift buyer’s delight or the ultimate stop for personal shopping. The store is located at 769 Glenferrie Road, Hawthorn.

G.J GARDNER HOMES WINS AWARD FOR TELLING THE TRUTH!

gj-gard2

In 2009, G.J. Gardner Homes won the prestigious HIA CSR Victorian Marketing Award. The awards, held in November, recognised excellence in housing. Judged by industry professionals, the awards acknowledge the talent of designers, builders and building companies who construct quality new housing.

Based on the theme ‘get the facts upfront’, the strategy alerts potential new home purchasers to the pitfalls that can occur when they rush ahead without getting the information they need to make informed decision on designs, position and in particular, site costs in relation to their budget.

A series of print, TV and radio advertisements developed in conjunction with www.OutscourceMyMarketing.com.au explores issues such as “no gimmicks or giveaways” and encourages people to get a $500 soil test before paying a deposit or signing any contract. This way foundation costs can be far more accurately calculated giving a fuller picture of what the project is going to cost all up.

Under the “we have nothing to hide” slogan, G.J. Gardner Homes have produced a free booklet, Get the Facts Upfront. The book is available as a free download on the website www.getthefactsupfront.com. It describes the main areas where costs can climb in the building process and ways to be informed.

The approach is much more than just an ad campaign, it is an integral part of the company’s ethos, as described by Ross Morley of G J Gardner Homes Victoria.

“We’ve been working closely with the several metropolitan and regional media partners to get the message out to the people of Victoria. We know they can save thousands if they simply get their facts up front before they commit. We’re trying to change the way people build new homes that’s based on no gimmicks, no tricks and no traps. We try to give as much information up front to enable the customer to make an informed decision before they commit to signing contracts.”

INSPIRATION FROM JAMIE DURIE

jamie-d2

Garden guru Jamie Durie has launched a new range of paints, specifically designed for your outdoor space. Focusing on earthy tones, with splashes of vibrant colour, Jamie Durie Signature by Porter’s Paints, available at Inspirations Paint & Colour, is especially designed for outdoor kitchens and entertaining areas.

For Jamie, the outdoor kitchen is the new heart of the home. “These days the outdoor kitchen is not just about the ubiquitous barbie,” he says. “More and more of my clients are asking for the same amenities outside as they have in their indoor kitchens and I’m more than happy to oblige. Being outside separates you somehow from normality, giving you a kind of holiday from the everyday.”

Jamie’s new paint range is specifically designed for outdoor areas, therefore lending itself perfectly to the outdoor kitchen. He believes that the outdoor kitchen is well and truly here to stay as more companies cater to this trend, continually bringing out products that are designed specifically for kitchens outside.

“The Aussie love affair with ‘the deck’ means that many outdoor kitchens in Australia are situated on a pine or hardwood deck. The Woodlife Natural Oil product in my new Signature range of paints and finishes is perfect for bringing out the natural beauty of any timber deck.

“The other big trend in Australian courtyards and outdoor rooms is creating textured walls as opposed to leaving a plain brick surface. The Sediment texture product is colour and texture in one with an even consistent tone and 40 colours to choose from, all of which have been inspired by the beauty of the Australian landscape.”

Similar to a bagged effect, Jamie’s Sediment product has an earthy, natural stone finish that retains its dense appearance for years. Both the Woodlife Natural Oil and Sediment products are water based, low in odour and harsh chemicals and have a 15 year quality guarantee.

“I am actually in the process of building my home at the moment and it will definitely have an outdoor kitchen,” he says. “I love cooking and eating alfresco in the fresh air and sunshine. It’s simply one of the best things to do when you have the opportunity and can spend quality time with friends and family!

“Isn’t it funny how food seems to taste better outside? I think it’s a primal thing that dates back to a time when our ancient ancestors cooked and ate around an open fire. Whatever the reason, people of all cultures continue to be drawn to eating al fresco and I get a buzz every time I see a tiny inner-city balcony almost completely taken up by the prized barbecue. Such dedication!”

QUALITY WORKMANSHIP, INNOVATIVE DESIGN

bellemore

From humble beginnings in 1985 as a single project company, Bellemore Homes has grown to become one of Melbourne’s most prestigious, custom design builders. Established 25 years ago by husband and wife Nick and Tina Pateras, the same enthusiasm and attention to detail is still put into every Bellemore Homes creation.

Right from the first meeting you can tell that the Bellemore Homes experience is something different. Because every home is created from the ground up according to the customer’s needs and desires, they are able to deliver truly stunning results that are elegant, as well as functional. Because they don’t restrict themselves to predesigned plans like other builders, there is almost no limit to what can be designed.

Innovation in design is just one step on the way to a truly stunning home. For this reason Bellemore Homes has assembled a team of industry professionals who strive for excellence in customer service and quality construction. All of their suppliers and trades people have been hand selected for over 20 years to ensure the quality of materials and workmanship needed to produce results befitting a Bellemore Home.

Remaining at the forefront of any industry is not just about having all the best people in-house. It is important to learn from what others are doing, and to share amongst others who are leading the industry. Nick says that being on the Building Practitioners Board and the Master Builders Association’s Council of Management is a great way to share ideas with other industry leaders, as well as giving something back to the housing industry.

Their new display home in Belmore Road, Balwyn is just another example of what Bellemore Homes can achieve. This new home stretches the imagination of the home buyer and allows them to experience luxury that is not only a dream, but a reality.
